Campbell Clan Tartan
The tartan created for the Highland Companies in 1725 and later for the Black Watch in 1739 may, in fact, have been worn by the Campbells at an earlier time. There is a possibility that many other clans wore the design, or something similar, before distinctive clan tartans were created. This Campbell tartan is worn by the present Duke of Argyll, who has approved the design.
About Your Cross Stitch Plaque
The entire pattern is stitched in full cross stitch stitches, using two strands of floss on 16-count Aida canvas. There are no half- or quarter-stitches and no backstitching. Because of the unique combination of floss and stitching, the finished cross stitch tartan appears cloth-like. The completed tartan will fit into a standard 11 x 8 1/2 inch frame, or you may choose to have this beautiful work of art and family history professionally framed.
The image above is from the first page of documentation that accompanies the pattern. It is not a picture of the final product and does not represent the cloth-like appearance you will achieve. Please refer to the samples pictured on the Home page or Product Samples page for an example of how the finished product will look. The thistles in the title area are optional.
